Val Thorens, Europe's highest ski resort, has claimed the title of World's Best Ski Resort at the 2017 World Ski Awards for the fourth time !

Winners of the 2017 World Ski Awards were announced at a gala event held at the five star A-ROSA Kitzbühel for the fifth consecutive year this past weekend, welcoming industry leaders from some of the world's most premier ski destinations.

At an altitude of 2,300 meters and with its ever-present pioneering spirit, breathtaking natural environment, remarkable amount of sunshine and exceptional snow conditions, Val Thorens is both unique and cosmopolitan, boasting a lively, sociable and welcoming atmosphere.

Val Thorens is also the crowning peak of the 3 Vallees, the most extensive skiing area in the world (600 km of slopes and 200 ski lifts), offering skiers exceptional views of more than 100 Alpine summits spanning France, Switzerland and Italy. It has some of the world’s most snowsure ski slopes thanks to its altitude and to a glacier.

Ski slopes are literally at skiers' doorsteps, while the village includes more than 100 bars and restaurants. Besides the legendary La Folie Douce, après-ski activities include bowling and jazz or classical music concerts. Aside from carving snow, guests can also try paragliding, extreme ice driving, snowmobiling, mountain biking on the slopes, and tobogganing down the longest run in France.

  • Opening of the FIS Ski Cross and Snowboard World Cup 8th and 9th December. For the 6th consecutive year, the international ski cross capital of Val Thorens is hosting two stages of the Ski Cross World Cup.
  • The Snowboard Cross World Cup 13th December. After a sixteen years absence, the Snowboard Cross World Cup is back in France!
