Unusual nightlife in Paris
Comptoir Général
Instant take-off for Africa! In this extraordinary hangar with its delightful faux colonial atmosphere next to the Canal Saint Martin, Parisians flock to sample rum punch while listening to African music. The atmosphere is exotic but friendly, that’s guaranteed!
La Vénus Noire
This cellar, with its vaulted ceiling, is famous for its cocktails based on green chartreuse. The events held here are varied (jazz, funk, literary evenings, clubbing) attracting an eclectic, very Parisian crowd. With its long tradition, La Vénus Noire has hosted, among others, the poets Charles Baudelaire, Paul Verlaine and even Arthur Rimbaud.
La Bellevilloise
At the Bellevilloise, allow yourself to be enthralled by performances in a variety of music styles, including Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae and World Music. This rendezvous and temple of culture is one-of-a-kind and multifunctional, containing a bar, restaurant and club and holding concerts, exhibitions and alternative film showings. This unique venue is greatly appreciated by Parisians as there is something to suit every taste.
Chez Bouboule
Feel like a typical, friendly Parisian night out? You’ve come to the right place! Share an apéritif with friends, accompanied by plates of delicatessen and cheeses, then get involved in a hotly contested game of pétanque, the French version of bowls. So typically French!
Maison Souquet
Discover this hidden bar in the Maison Souquet, a house of ill repute during the Belle Epoque (the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries) situated right in the heart of Pigalle an currently a luxury hotel. You can sample forgotten apéritifs and a wide selection of unique cocktails named after famous courtesans. All this in a subdued atmosphere, the fantasmagorical decor imagined by Jacques Garcia. You are sure to find this venue intriguing.
Recyclerie
In the heart of the eighteenth arrondissement, at the edge of the Petite Ceinture, the abandoned railway line, La Recyclerie has revived Ornano, a former railway station and transformed it into a bar/restaurant/city farm. In an eco-responsible initiative, La Recyclerie offers glasses of wine on tap from small French producers. This vast space has retained its authenticity, and is dedicated to those who care about tomorrow’s world, but it is also a place for enjoyment, creativity, discussions and debates.
Zéro de conduite
Zéro de Conduite is a great meeting-place for people who refuse to grow up! Drinks are served from baby-bottles with sweets and you order by drawing on a plastic slate the person associated with the cocktail of your choice. You can play board games with friends and neighbours. Lots of laughter and fun guaranteed!
Lavomatic
You enter this secret hideaway through a washing machine! You will then discover a staircase that leads to this cosy, clandestine bar with its decor of acid colours. On the cocktail side of things, let yourself be tempted by original, tasty mixtures. If all this hasn’t left you disoriented, sit on one of the swings to sip your drink.
Le Lipstick
This former sleazy hostess dive is now a cocktail bar and benefits from the well-known expertise of mixologists in the creation of its cocktails. Sip a glass in a grungy decor, combining leopard-skin banquettes, pole-dancing poles and mirrors on the ceiling. While the cocktails are reasonably priced, it’s still a good idea to take advantage of the long happy hour (lasting until 10.00 p.m.) and there is dancing at the club until 5.00 a.m. from Tuesday to Saturday.
Germain & Club Paradisio
This atypical club invades the MK2 Germain Paradisio cinema every weekend. This intimate night club is the ideal place in which to sip a glass of champagne or enjoy a cocktail with friends. As the evening progresses and until dawn, the dance floor will be populated with famous actors, well-known Parisians and celebrities from the world of fashion.
