Paris’ Christmas lights Paris fr

It’s not nicknamed the ‘City of Light’ for nothing: Paris’ Christmas lights are a major attraction for locals and tourists alike. In fact, visitors come from all over the world to admire the avenues and boulevards decked out in magical colours for the festive season – with everything from luminous arches with multicoloured bulbs to flickering flames and sparkling light projections.

Combining traditional lights with modern sparkle using LED technology, displays and illuminations start between 22nd November and 8th January. One of the French capital’s most famous avenues appropriately packs a punch as far as lights are concerned – this year will be no exception as Blachère Illuminations takes over the majestic Champs-Élysées with their ‘Scintillance’ display.

Keeping with Parisian tradition, the facades of the grand department stores – Le Printemps, Galeries Lafayette, BHV and Le Bon Marché – will be adorned with stunning festive decorations for Christmas.

And for the Christmas shopping, Paris’ department stores are hard to beat. Check here where to go Christmas shopping in Paris.

Not to miss is the ‘Noël Gourmand’ in 15-18 December 2017, a delectable foodie trade show taking place at Quai d’Austerlitz. Three days of gastronomy showcase the talent and expertise of the best artisans in France with upscale products and regional specialities on offer. A wonderful array of farmhouse cheeses, oils, spices, mushrooms, seafood, charcuterie and foie gras, wine, chocolate and confectionery... all of which you can taste on site and take home to prepare Christmas and New Year dinner parties to remember.
