Feel Bordeaux Bordeaux fr

Only an hour from Paris by plane or three hours by TGV, vibrant and dynamic Bordeaux is the capital of south-west France, distinguished by its exceptional 18th-century architecture that earned its nickname ‘Little Paris’ and its UNESCO World Heritage status. There are many ideas to make a program for a city trip.

On the architectural route

Bordeaux has 350 buildings listed or registered as historical monuments, including 3 UNESCO World Heritage religious buildings by way of the St James Pilgrimage route. It is the perfect place to go on a stroll to see architectural styles spanning several centuries.

On the wine route

Taste the local wines, of course! Bordeaux is home to no less than 60 appellations, including world-famous Pomerol, St-Emilion, Pauillac and Margaux to name a few. Setting out from Bordeaux, 6 tourist destinations offer you activities and holidays to discover the wine region. Also not to be missed is the Bordeaux Wine Festival in June, the oldest tourist event devoted to French wine.

On the gourmet route

Fresh fruit de mer (seafood) and plates of entrecôte marchand de vin, the region’s signature steak dish with a sauce of onions, butter and red wine, Bordeaux has become a hot gastronomic destination : there are now more than 1,600 restaurants ! Must-taste: the canelé, both creamy and crunchy, is the most famous pastry of Bordeaux ! Made with sugar, rhum, vanilla … and love! Include in your program one of the many gourmet tours to experience the best of Bordeaux’s food and drink, the sophisticated way of life "à la bordelaise"!

On the shopping route

Europe's longest pedestrian street, rue Sainte-Catherine, lies not far from Bordeaux's trading port and has become the city's main shopping artery. Touch luxury items and eclectic antiques in the districts of Chartrons and St-Michel and on Rue St-Catherine. January’s Antiques Fair is the most important event of the year for the region.
