Upper Brittany is also the scene of festivals, many of which are internationally well-known like the Transmusicales de Rennes, the Route du Rock, the Festival Quai des Bulles, and the Etonnants Voyageurs in Saint-Malo. Sporting events include the Route du Rhum Transatlantic Yacht Race, and the National Sea-Kayak Championships. And don’t forget food festivals like the delicious Festival Gourmand de Rennes, where top chefs from the "Capital" of Brittany compete against one another.

For something a little different and loads of fun, have a go at geocaching, a hi-tech treasure hunt using GPS. About fifty different ‘caches’ are hidden in places of interest, waiting to be discovered by intrepid tourists and locals - a great way to
explore Ille et Vilaine! You can rent a GPS from the Comité du Tourisme in Rennesor from participating ‘Offices de Tourisme’.
