Like the mountains in general, La Clusaz is multi-faceted. You can of course discover the area on skis, but there are so many more activities, such as snow shoe walking, or a day as a trapper being pull along by husky dogs, a romantic ride in a horse drawn carriage, laser rifle shooting on a biathlon, speedriding, ice skating or even yoga…No excuse not to take to the Great Outdoors.
Alpine area : La Clusaz and Manigod are located on the north-west flank of the Aravis massif. This favourable position gives them a combined average snowfall of more than 6 metres at an altitude of 1,860 metres. The La Clusaz ski area extends over 4 massifs: Beauregard - Étale - Aiguille - Balme. The Manigod ski area includes the La Croix-Fry and Merdassier sectors. These two connected areas comprise a total of 84 runs and 53 ski lifts, the tops of which reach up to an altitude of 2,600 metres,and provide 1,500 metres of descents, as well as breath-taking views of Mont Blanc. The La Clusaz and Manigod ski areas are connected to the Grand-Bornand ski area in the Aravis massif via special ski passes.
Country skiing : As well-being as a marvellous downhill skiing area, La Clusaz is a Mecca for cross-country skiers: it enjoys the largest cross-country ski area in the Haute-Savoie region with 70 kilometres of trails on the Confins and Beauregard plateaux. This premier approved site is equipped with a Cross-Country Skiing stadium – a series of moguls and hollows, springboards, and a range of obstacles to tackle – as well as a biathlon laser zone. The Confins plateau is the area’s most frequented site and has hosted 5 cross-country skiing world cups. The Confins Nordic Area is associated with Beauregard Nordic Area (20 km of slopes) thanks to a shared skipass, and is connected to Le Grand Bornand Nordic Area thanks to a linking black slope of 7 km.
Ski Area : The Aravis ski area includes the La Clusaz-Manigod ski area, linked by shuttle bus to the Grand-Bornand and Saint-Jean de Sixt ski areas, and offers a total of 220 km of ski slopes! Shuttle buses are free to holders of a “Shuttle Bus” card or “Carte d’hôte” discount card.
